Sprinkles Are Awesome

I have been having a good time starting my business this last month.  As some of you know, I am an independent consultant for Pink Zebra.  Pink Zebra’s primary product is called Sprinkles.  Let me tell you they are amazing!  Sprinkles are little bits of soy based wax.  They are beautifully colored and they smell absolutely amazing!!!  There are so many different scents, that there is something for everyone whether you like fruity scents, floral, clean scents, or you just love the smell of coffee.

My kids have had a great time mixing the different scented sprinkles together to make their own unique scents.  There is an actual recipe book for that by the way, but my family has had fun winging it.

Here are some of the uses for sprinkles.

I personally love sprinkling them at the bottom of my diaper pail.  It really helps freshen it up a bit!  An idea that is not on this picture, is you can use them as an air freshener for your car.  I took an old plastic container for mints, cleaned it out, and put in my favorite sprinkles.  Whenever I want some fresh scent in the car I open the little lid.  When I have enough scent, I close the lid.  I love having control over how strong of a scent I want.  You can use a little for a light scent or more for big time scent.  It is all up to you.

Sprinkles are non toxic, clean burning, and have a low melting point.  That means the wax is not super hot when you melt it.  My three-year old stuck his finger in the melted wax and did not get burned.  Yes I know, I felt like the mother of the year but it is good to know that they are safe for kids.  Since they are non toxic, even if your children or pets eat them (which they taste awful I don’t recommend them for flavor) it won’t really hurt them.

If you would like a sample of Sprinkles please email me at pzsprinklesofpeace@gmail.com.  Just send me your address and types of scents you love, and I would be happy to drop some sprinkles in the mail to you.  I LOVE SHARING MY SPRINKLES.

Felt Like Christmas

When I decided to start my own Pink Zebra business I was really excited.  It took my husband and I both a couple of months praying about it and research before we made our decision.  In case, you don’t know what Pink Zebra is, it is a direct sales company that specializes in scented wax called Sprinkles.  The sprinkles smell incredible, burn clean and are customizable.  You can mix sprinkles to create endless scent combinations.  You can also use them for a wide variety of purposes, including making your own candles, melting them in warmers, using them as deodorizers, putting them in sachet, you can even sprinkle them in your cat’s litter box!  Seriously, they are non toxic and are harmless to pets.  Make that smelly litter box smell like a fresh breeze.

There are a few reasons I chose to start my Pink Zebra Business.  First, it is an awesome excuse for this stay at home mommy to get out of the house and get to know new friends.  It is something that I need to do for myself.  Second, I absolutely love Sprinkles!!!  Did I say that already?  I mean seriously, I love them!  For so many reasons.  The third reason, is because Pink Zebra is a ground floor opportunity.  It is not over saturated with independent consultants, like some other unnamed direct sales companies out there.  There are companies around here that I could throw a rock and probably hit one of their consultants.  The fourth reason is the fact that I love how they care about the community.  They have a program called the Heroes Program.  For every $500 party that is held, Pink Zebra donates a full day of child care to a single mother.  As a person who provides childcare for a single mother, I can’t think of a better cause to back.  I see her struggle every day. She works super hard and I know this program could really help her and so many other moms out there.

Today, was an exciting day in this new venture.  It was the day my business kit arrived in the mail.  It came in a great big box, that I got to unwrap a little bit at a time.

I, of course dropped everything I was doing to unwrap my present to myself. It felt like Christmas morning to me.  I haven’t been so excited to get something in the mail in a really long time! I got the basic kit, which costs $99.

My kit came with two jars of sprinkles, a shimmering light warmer, a lovely shade for it, a tart style warmer, a set of six candle packages, catalogs, order forms, part invitations, a consultant manual, a reed diffuser, lotion tester, as well as one month of my website, and samples of all the variety of scents.  They all came in these really cute zebra print boxes.  FUN!

Unwrapping my kit was so much fun.  I felt like a kid in a candy store.  My kids did too because we then spent two hours playing with sprinkles.  We smelled everything, mixed scents, melted some sprinkles and generally had a great time.  I am not sure, but I think my kids may actually love them more than me.  They want to get the sprinkles out, over and over and over again.  I will have to think of ideas to let them help me with this.

I am so excited for this new adventure.  If you are interested in hosting a party.  This can be done online and via catalog, and remember a $500 party means a single mommy gets a free day of childcare, contact me.  Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing products, or joining my team.  My email address is pzsprinklesofpeace@gmail.com.  Please take a moment and check out my website at http://www.pinkzebrahome.com/sprinklesofpeace.   If you want samples of sprinkles, send me an email.  I am happy to share my sprinkles!

Earning My Stripes

I have been determined lately…determined to try new things…determined to take steps of faith to improve my life and those of my family.  I have been writing about my new journeys on this blog.  I can honestly say, with each new thing I have changed our lives have gotten better.

Today, I took another one of those steps.  I decided to start my own business.  I have been praying, researching and considering this for several months.  I have looked at different options and I finally settled on becoming an Independent Consultant for Pink Zebra.  I ordered my Independent Consultant Kit today.  I am so excited for my kit to arrive!

I decided to join Pink Zebra because I absolutely adore their products.  Pink Zebra sells highly fragranced scented wax, they call sprinkles.  The sprinkles come in lots of different colors and fragrances.  You can use them to make candles with them, melt them in tart warmers, make sachets with them, use them as air fresheners, really the possibilities are endless.   I think my favorite part about is the fact that you can melt them in the Pink Zebra warmers.  They are pretty little warmers and there is no open flame needed.  They are electric.  That is the perfect solution for me, since my son is a little too fascinated with fire.  They also have a low melting point, which also makes it safer for children.   The sprinkles themselves are non toxic, so if your kids or animals eat them, they won’t get hurt.  It won’t taste good, but there is no harm done.  Pink Zebra has several other fabulous products, including their mess free reed diffusers, scented lotions, warmers and simmering lights.  The other reason I decided to join Pink Zebra is the fact that the company is only three years old, making this business a ground floor opportunity.  There is lots of room for growth.

Please take a minute and check out my new website.

If you are interested in any of the fantastic products or the business itself please let me know.  If you want to gets lots of free products, I can help you with that as well.  You can throw a party entirely online, you will get the credit and you can earn free stuff….what can be better than free stuff?

I am excited for my new business venture.  I am hopeful that this little business will provide a boost in income and allow me to continue to focus my attention where it needs to be, my children.

New journeys

Here I sit, with my hair frizzed out after a long day of taking care of kids, cleaning, and teaching my daughter school.  I am taking a semi quiet moment to write this while decked out in my favorite yoga pants and my favorite t-shirt that my husband bought me for Christmas.  In case anyone is curious, it says, “My Husband’s Wife is Is Freaking Awesome! True Story.”  I figure since my handsome hubby bought it for me I am totally allowed to wear it with pride 🙂

My name is Sharon and I am passionately in love with my wonderful husband, my five-year old daughter, my three-year old son and Jesus.  I am a stay at home wife, mommy, new homeschooler, and praying about taking yet another exciting journey, starting my own business.  We are making sacrifices to live the way we live and learning a lot in the process.

My newest journey that I am on is homeschooling my daughter, who is now in kindergarten.  When we were first making our decision how to educate our daughter, we  researched many different options.  My husband and I prayed about it a lot.  We both felt led to homeschool, but I frankly did not want to do it.  I argued with God about it a lot, I tried to convince Him that I knew better than He did.  Has anyone else tried to do that?  It is kind of silly now that I think back on it.  I had so many concerns.  I suspect they were all the usual suspects.  I was worried about whether my kids would get enough socialization of course, I worried about how to do it, I was overwhelmed by curriculum options, but most of all I was terrified!  The questions that ran through my mind were things like, What if I royally mess up my kids?  In the end, we decided that it is always best to follow the Lord’s path for our lives and trust Him to help us with the twists and turns along the way.

I wish I would have started writing this blog six months ago, because I have learned many lessons in the last six months and had so much fun.  Alas, I did not, but there is one lesson I would like to share with all you new home schoolers out there.  Remember your goal in homeschooling is NOT to finish the book!  When we are homeschooling our goals are to educate our children.  Finishing the book does not necessarily equal an education.  If you start something and it becomes ridiculously painful and is not working for your child for whatever reason, know you are free.  You can shelve it!  Maybe your child isn’t ready for it or maybe it doesn’t work for them, but whatever the reason don’t hesitate to shelve it and do something that works for your individual kid.

I learned this lessons with my daughter’s reading curriculum.  We started with Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. (Let me say this, I know people who use this book and it works great for their kids but for my daughter, it was a battle.  She was learning to read but wasn’t enjoying it.)  I knew relatively early that my daughter hated this book.  I never did understand why exactly.  It is scripted and the pages weren’t very engaging to look at, but I still don’t know why she disliked it so.  She was learning to read but it was a huge fight!  By lesson 80, both my daughter and I were done.  I was doubting whether home school was the answer, but I started to pray and finally felt led to change reading curriculums.  We switched to The Reading Lesson: Teach Your Child to Read in 20 Easy Lessons.  It uses a similar approach but is less scripted and the pages were child friendly.  We started over at the very beginning.  She went through the first lessons extremely fast and built confidence.  We also started a reward chart for her, where she gets a sticker when she reads with a good heart.  As we got further into the book, we slowed down to go at a pace comfortable for her.  Her reading has improved drastically and she has even started reading little books on her own.  No more tears!

Each child is an individual and require different things to learn.  So, if you are struggling with something, please don’t hesitate to stop reevaluate, and if necessary change what you are doing.  One of the beauties of homeschool is freedom.  You can adjust your curriculum to go as fast or slow as your child needs.

I am loving every moment with my husband and children.  I count myself as one of the luckiest women in the world because I get to share my life with them, while serving Jesus.
